It all began at a little desk in Gene’s bedroom in 1983 on a computer built before the days of hard drives. Gene was joined by Professor Harold Kime of Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster PA. Jeff Hostetter, a software developer, joined them in 1988. They worked together to create a powerful software package in the very early days of software development. For nearly two decades this enterprise labored to support Christian education with just a few employees.In 2001 God gave Larry Ferguson, Darren Hollick, and Jeff Hostetter the vision of creating a website that non-tech people could easily update. This type of website is called a content management system (CMS). Gene and his associates had accumulated considerable expertise in programming and thought that a new internet product might generate revenue to support the work with Christian schools. In 2002 the name Elexio was created for this new venture and new blood was infused into the leadership of the company.
Today Elexio has established itself as a ministry focused company with more than 2 dozen employees. This for-profit business exists for the purpose of leveraging its technical know how, to amplify the Good News of Jesus Christ. The response to Elexio was so great that the websites became a primary focus. Elexio quickly became a premier provider of CMS supported websites in the ministry marketplace.
